Cheryl Carney

Cheryl Raye Carney, 29, daughter of the Rev. Jesse Carney and the late Alice Carney, died Wednesday, September 24, 1992 at Danbury Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born January 13, 1963 in New Haven and had been a resident of Danbury for most of her life.

A 1981 graduate of Danbury High School, she had attended South Central Community College and the Computer Processing Institute, where she received a certificate in word processing.

She was a member of Mercy Temple Church and had served as church usher and choir director, and was past president of the Northern Connecticut Diocese Youth Department.

Besides her father, she is survived by two brothers, Carl Carney of Hawaii and Jesse Carney Jr., of Waterbury; a sister, Brenda Henley of Danbury and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be observed on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury.

Final viewing will be held Tueday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mount Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church, 69 Rowan St., Danbury, followed by funeral services at 7 p.m.

Friends are invited to assemble on Wednesday at 10:50 a.m. at the office of the Wooster Cemetery, 20 Ellsworth Ave., Danbury and then will proceed at 11 a.m. to the family plot for a graveside committal service.
